Fat Jam 21

The 21st summer FAT-JAM took place in Aarle-Rixtel on the 22nd of august. It was a great day. If your not familiar with the Fat-Jam or the people behind FatBmx you are probably not that into BMX. No worries, thats OK. More will follow about the 2 brothers called Paul & Bart de Jong. For now check out their world famous website and Bart's report about the Jam. Enjoy.
FATJAM 21. Most riders weren’t even born when the first jam took place at the same spot years ago but the spirit of the jam has remained the same. Accessible to everyone, free to ride, free to spectate. Having a good time is what it’s about. Back then, and still now.
12 truckloads of dirt had been dropped at the Sugar Hills 4 weeks ago and the locals changed it into a new place. It had something to offer for everyone. Kids, first timers and also a couple “pro’s” enjoyed riding the place. Once again it was hot and sunny. Fortunately this time we had some water to keep the place rideable. Around four ‘o clock prizes were given out to those who did what Paul wanted to see: “First person to do a one-hander gets a Pro-Tec helmet!” it was funny and this went on for a while until the prizes that were donated by the sponsors were gone. Then the contest mode changed to the Snafu Export race which was a little different this time. The course was the same but the rules were different. The 30 cans of Export Beers we warming up in the hot sun before the first rider had to down half a litre of junk and then do the slalom race on a bike with the bars crooked. Everything that was left in the can was poured over the riders’ head before the time was stopped. For every pylon that got dropped, one minute was added to the time. It was free to enter and everyone who did received a new Snafu T-shirt for their effort. In the end it was Bart Bazelmans who had the fastest time. He does not drink so he took the beer shower at the end instead. For his win he received the 5 warm Export beers that were left. Great prize for someone who doesn’t drink.
The BBQ had been fired up for everyone to use and the Monster crew kept the music blasting all day long. After everyone got their runs in it was time to pack it up and head on over to OJA for the after party. It might not have been as crowded as previous years but that doesn’t mean no fun was had. The live band only played for 20 minutes (they only had 4 songs and drove over from Utrecht to play them) but JD Sinned and DJ Riccardo from Italia took over after that. The night ended in true FATJAM style. See you in 2010.
